New to plex. I have an Alienware X51 computer that stores all my files (with external hard drives for media).
On some of the larger movies (Ripped 4k). It is hard to get through the entire movie without a buffering issue. Interestingly, my Sheild seems to do a better job than my computer. The computer is actually connected to the hard drives. Shield is connected via a powerline adapter to another room.
I was wondering what I can do. Can i change settings to get the computer / shield to download 10% / cache 10% of movie, so it never catches up, and I dont get buffering.
I do see posts on optimising plex. I don’t want to affect the quality of the movie, but compressing it.
The plex on my computer loads a web-page and plays movies through that website. I know i could play the movie off the hard drive direct, then use somthing like vlc player. But I like seeing all the titles to choose from within the plex platform.
As for sheild - well i’m not sure. I just load plex on sheild and it loads up.
