I haven’t listened to my Hi-Fi system much lately, but yesterday I was disappointed to learn that RoPieee no longer supports Plexamp on the Raspberry Pi. I found instructions for its replacement, Caldera Music; while it does work with the Raspberry Pi (using WiiM Pro and WiiM Ultra), it’s not ideal—the connection frequently drops, and the track keeps playing on its own because the Caldera service disappears from the Plexamp Cast list, only to reappear minutes later. Does anyone have any insight into this? Is this happening because Caldera is a relatively new project? It looks like a great project; if the developer needs financial support, I’d gladly contribute to ensure solid software development. Thanks
Hi Elan, so I’m trying out the Beta version; it seems to work much better, though I still need to test it further to be sure—I’ll let you know in a few days. I’m testing it on Raspberry Pi OS Lite.
The point of my earlier suggestion was that, if necessary, you could always release a paid version of the Caldera app…
Anyway, I’d like to take this opportunity to compliment you on the Plexamp app; I’m a huge music collector, and in my opinion, it’s the best one out there. Could it be even better? Yes, but I have to say that the Plexamp “Home” page is brilliant—especially the way you can add categories corresponding to your collections. Great work!
