Caldera: cannot run on Win10H2 - App Runtime initialization error (0x80670016)

Hey guys

Longtime Plexamp user here. I’m having trouble running Caldera Amp on my old server, running Windows 10 22H2 (64-bit).

On launch, I get:

Required components of the Windows App Runtime are missing.
Version 1.7 (MSIX package version >= 7000.770.750.0)

I’ve ran some checks and it seems that:

  • Windows App Runtime 1.7 (v7000.785.2325.0) is installed and healthy.
  • Desktop App Installer is installed.
  • DISM and SFC complete successfully.
  • Visual C++ redistributables are up to date.
  • I’ve reinstalled both the Windows App Runtime and Caldera Amp, including a clean reinstall with Defender disabled.

Despite this, Caldera Amp still fails to initialize the Windows App Runtime.

Is this a known issue, or is there any additional logging or diagnostic build I could use to help troubleshoot it?

If you’ve not already done so, try reinstalling Windows App Runtime 1.7.

I had the same message on my PC.

Installing Windows App Runtime v1.7 fixed the problem.

Installing the current version, 2.2, did not work.

This worked, Thanks! The app now runs, however no music is coming out. Will keep investigating…

Running into the same issue, had to uninstall all runtimes and installed only 1.7.9; No music coming out either,
