Camera Upload isn't uploading / what's return code 500 ?

Hi - I’ve just completely deleted & re-created my Windows Plex Server - latest Plex Pass build, and I’m trying to upload from my Android Nexus 6P running Android 7.0, but nothing’s uploading.

Plex on my phone is showing:
Uploading
Remaining 181 / Uploaded 0

In my Phone’s Plex Log, I see:
[conn] Connection SUCCESS MY-PLEX-SERVE ~ localConn: true conn: https://xxx-xxx-x-xxx
[CameraUploader] Uploading file IMG_20160929_102754.jpg …
[CameraUploader] Unexpected return code: 500, bytes available 0, bytes remaining 4248685

  • any idea what a rc of 500 means ?

I think it means the server returned error 500.
Would like to see the corresponding sequence of logged entries on the server side - in Plex Media Server.log ?

Sorry didn’t get to see your reply until today

  • here are the PMS logs (I’ve only included the “Media Server.log”(s) as that’s what you asked for

Oct 12, 2016 11:07:15.750 [7244] ERROR - Destination path C:\Users	omha\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Media Upload\Mobile Photos is not accessible or does not exist

Please create the Library first in Plex Web and define the path and then start the uploads

Sounds similar to https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1278044/#Comment_1278044

Hmmm - I checked the file structures, and I didn’t have a “\Media Upload\Mobile Photos” folder
So I created the folder, and then added it to the Mobile Photos library in Plex Web
I started the upload, and as it didn’t seem to be doing anything, I stopped it, and a few photos appeared to have uploaded
Every time I stopped & restarted the upload, more & more photos (apparently) had been uploaded
But now that they’re all uploaded, the destination folder is empty 8-|

I’ve checked the logs, and this time I can’t see “Mobile Photos” mentioned anywhere

I think I’ll scrap the server, and create it from fresh, and try again - meanwhile time for a beer !

Thanks @sa2000 - a clean server, and creating the mobile folder structure and library worked ! ^:)^

Just an observation …
On my Nexus 6P, the Plex app is still showing the round circle with 183 Remaining, and 0 Uploaded - ie. it’s not updating in real-time.
However, in the Notification bar, the Plex app is showing a (slowly) moving progress bar currently down to 37 remaining

Thanks for feedback - do you have logs for when it was not working after you created the folder ?

Sure - here they are

Thank you. The destination path not available is no longer logged but there were still errors being returned. Don’t know why. Will try and get logging improved

The path must have existed. I can see at 12:55 you changed Local App Data Path for Plex Media Server to be in S:\Plex Media Server AppData and I presume you must have copied C:\Users omha\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\ structure to be in S:\Plex Media Server AppData\Plex Media Server\

What did you with this media path C:\Users omha\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Media Upload\Mobile Photos for the camera uploads ?
I can see you defined the library path as S:\Plex Media Server AppData\Plex Media Server\Media Upload\Mobile Photos - and I presume you did create that path on the S:\ Drive

This shows that definition of the path succeeding

So I am not sure at this point as to why the upload attempts failed with error 400 after this.
Are the permissions ok ? full permissions?

You said a fresh install fixed it - is it still with same paths as before ?
Log files showing the paths being used?

Are the permissions ok ? full permissions?
I am in the Administrators group, and on the \Mobile Uploads folder, the Administrators group has Full Control

is it still with same paths as before ?
Not quite - previously, I had install & appdata on my S-drive (separate folders)
Now, I’ve got install in the default C:\Program Files (x86)\ and appdata set to S:\ and Mobile Uploads in S:\Plex Media Server\Mobile Uploads

ps. last night, a new build of Windows 10 came down, I’m going to trash the whole lot again & do a bare metal install

If I have any more problems, I’ll let you know

Thanks for you help

Thanks for all the info - a server change is being made to improve what happens and create the destination folder

The other errors in the log were to do with the client app not handling the error returned by PMS

COuld you tell me what client was in use through 192.168.0.179 and what version of the Plex app

Hi - .179 is the IP address of my mobile phone / Nexus 6P / Android 7.0, and it"s running version 4.32.3.676 (bbbe9d40) from the Play Store
