Can 2 different PMS use the *same* video source at the same time?

I have a PMS running on Win 10 Pro. I also have a PMS running on a NAS (Synology DS916+). I want both PMS to point to the same library - i.e., I want each PMS to have a “TV shows” library, and each library points to the same source (both point to the same folder on the NAS).

I doubt both the PMSes will be playing the exact same episode at the exact same time, but it might be possible that users on each PMS is watching a different show. This should work, right? As long as the file a PMS is trying to access isn’t locked for exclusively access, this should all Just Work?

Thanks

As long as the Plex server on the PC is using the NAS as a simple media file storage, it will work.
(Unless the disks in the NAS are so slow that they cannot deliver 2 files at once, but that is purely hypothetical.)

But don’t try to share the Plex data folder between the two servers. It will end in tears and/or data loss.

Correct, the Win 10 PMS is only using the NAS as simple media file storage. The disks in the NAS are Ironwolf 4TB drives, they should be able to keep up (5400 RPM).

Not me! LOL
Each Plex data folder stays on it’s own PMS.

Thanks. I thought I could do this. This way, I can use the PMS NAS remotely, and my 2 friends can continue to watch from the PC PMS, without issues (except for bandwidth).

Precisely.
