Can admins see quality setting (mbps) of players somewhere on the server?

I’m hoping there is somewhere in the logs or elsewhere on the plex server that i can see which quality setting a user has chosen within their player. Specifically, i want to see if one of my ps4 player remote users has it set to 720p 2mbps vs 720p 4mbps.

  • Enable ‘debug’ logging on your server (but not ‘verbose’ logging).
  • Restart your Plex Server
  • let your remote user start playback
  • after ~1 minute take a look at the Plex Media Server.log
    seek for lines with the string MDE: in them. These will contain clues about the transcoding decision and bitrates etc.
