Can Discover Feature Include Local Media?

Our local media plays fine through our Plex Libraries, Home, etc.

I do not find our media come up when I search through Plex’s Discover feature. I was searching with Discover when I came across a movie we might like to watch. Discover offered a way to rent the movie. I thought the title sounded familiar and backed out to look in our movie library - I forgot we had it.

I think it would be nice to add local media to Discover’s “Streaming Services”. Can we? Should we?

Thanks.

When you click a show or movie that exists, there should be a section called “watch from these locations” and it includes your server.

Lunamonkey beat me posting a screenshot . Keep in mind there’s a few prerequisites, e.g. your library must use one of the current-generation Plex agents (no legacy or 3rd party agents).

Currently there’s no option to show dedicated „Available on your own / shared libraries“ hubs on the Recommended tab of Discover.

Thanks for the replies and information.

After looking closer, it depends on the search words used. If I type the name of that movie, our local media is listed first. In this case, I was looking for a different program, so only one word (I guess) found/offered the rented option, but not the local option…?

It looks like I just need a better memory system - in me! I would not have been happy if we rented the movie AND then found out it was in our local library. Thanks,
