I understand the mixed feeling users are having of the new discovery “feature”. I am giving it a try though. Unfortunately, movies from my local library cannot be selected. E.g., I can see a movie under discovery and can select a streaming service. I have the same movie in my movie library, but don’t have the option to play it from my local library.
Is your movie library using the Plex Movie agent. if you upgraded to the Plex Movie agent recently did you refresh all metadata so your movies are rematched with the new agent?
Yes on both. I am using “Plex Movie” as scanner and agent. All movies are “matched”. I just refreshed one movie to see whether this helps, but this movie is still not identified under “discover”.
If I search for the movie, I can find it in the library and under “other sources”. Once I select other sources, I can only see the streaming sources, but not the movie in local library.
can you you look at media xml info for one of the movies and tell me what the GUID is. it will be in the top part of the xml

One odd thing happened that may or may not be related.
“Discover” disappeared from the webinterface completely. I had it pinned, but it no longer shows up there.
“Discover” still shows on ATV and IOS Plex players though.
The above described issue used to exist on webinterface (when it still showed up) as well as ATV and IOS (before and still now the issue persists).
Are you using the hosted web app?
Di you tell your web browser to NOT throw away the cookies from plex.tv when it is closed?
Thanks for your help.
When using the hosted app, it works (though still an issue).
-
Discover now shows up “pinned”. Question why it doesn’t work when using the “normal” way (my-ip:23400/web)?
-
It also doesn’t fully work when accessing via app.plex.tv. While it does show up “pinned”, I can only see “trending trailer” and “coming soon”. I cannot see movies (e.g., cannot see “trending on your services” that I can see on iphone. Issue seems to be “no streaming services” found in my region. I don’t face this issue when accessing on my IOS, ATV or when accessing the webinterface in the normal way
Because the “local” web app is a few versions older and doesn’t have support for Discover yet.
Always use the hosted web app, unless you can’t reach the internet. Use a browser bookmark or a shortcut on your desktop.
What IS your region/country? Are you using some kind of VPN software on your router?
Ok. So, eventually the local web app will get upgraded as well?
I am in HK. Sometimes using a proxy (on router), but doesn’t seem to make a difference.
Odd part is that it does seem to work on IOS / ATV, which are on same network and router.
And none of this seems to solve my original issue that the movies from my local library don’t show up together with services. Could this be related?
And one thing even more odd:
Local web app works (though no discover at all). IOS works (though discover movies do not include local library).
The hosted web app behaves very strange though. When using a VPN, it works for discover (without LOCAL movies) and also the local library is accessible. However when turning off the VPN, the hosted web app does not work at all. I am seeing a message “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “Tower” securely”. Same browser can access when turning on the VPN.
I have opened a separate topic for my issue with the hosted web app.
Would be great to get your help why the local library movies are not yet showing together with my services on the IOS and ATV devices.
Let me know if anything I can provide for troubleshooting.

Is this what you had been looking for?
I tried everything, but none of my local movies or shows show up under the movies in the discovery section
Please let me know what else I can provide for troubleshooting. Thanks!
Did some more troubleshooting and still cannot get it to work:
I took a movie from my local library and marked the movies as “add watchlist”. The movie now shows on the watchlist. Even when I got to “discover”, the movie shows as “watchlist”. But yet again, when clicking on the movie in the discover watchlist, it shows the link to Netflix, but not to the local movie in my local library.
Let me bump this @BigWheel @OttoKerner. Anything I can provide to troubleshoot this issue. I can see “discovery movies” on IOS, ATV, and web app. However, none of them links to my local library.
Can you view the browser console logs and see if there are any errors when the movies detail page loads.

Thanks @BigWheel for your note. Yes. there are a few errors. Please see the console log below:
I have removed what may be sensitive info? Let me know if you need it for troubleshooting and I will send to you.
One watch-out: Remote connection does not work well for me, which may explain some of the time-out error that you see in the logs. IOS and ATV use the local connection and face the same issues. However, I cannot provide a chrome log for these devices.
Anything else @BigWheel that I can provide for troubleshooting?
Issue still exists after latest update. Any thoughts?
@BigWheel/@OttoKerner, any thoughts?
