The meta data for my plex library is taking a lot of room on my C drive, would like to know how/if I can change the storage location of the meta data
Yes. In your web interface go to settings. Then turn on “advanced.”
Then you can change “The path where local application data is stored” to whatever you want.
There are a couple of considerations:
- Do NOT place that directory on a networked drive or on any drive that could become disconnected or that is part of a “pooled” structure of any kind.
- Plex does not automatically move anything when that is changed and it does not erase the old data so if you need to retain watched status etc. you will have to move the data yourself and, weather you move the data or not, once you are sure that the new directory is working correctly you will need to delete the old data manually.
If you choose you can avoid the hassle of moving the directory data and just allow Plex to rebuild everything. It would be just like Plex starting all over.
