The wifi at my gym isn’t great, but I prefer watching on Plex rather than VLC, if for no other reason than to save my place. So, I’d like to put the videos on my phone, then play it in Plex.
I’ve seen the option to advertise my phone as a server, is that all I need to do, and can it be accomplished workout Plex Pass?

If you manually transfer videos to your phone, there is an option in the app to view files on your phone. Of course, the file needs to be compatible or you’ll just get an error when trying to play it.

In the Plex app on the phone, scroll to the bottom of library list, select More.
Look for a “server” named Offline. It has three libraries: Camera Roll, Open Video File, and Downloads.

No. This is independent of what is on your server. The only way to link it up to your server is to get a Plex Pass and use the Downloads feature, which will keep the play progress in-sync with your server.
