I remember a few years ago that I used to be able to share videos on my sons’ iPods and have them play videos on each other’s iPods. If I remember correctly, you go into the list of “servers” and you pick which one you wanted. Each iPod would have to set themselves up to “share” and then another iPod (or any other device) could pick it and watch a video. I checked the other day when we were on holidays and I couldn’t figure out how to do it. They each had downloaded some videos but if they could share, then they could essentially double their content.
Is this still available? In the Settings menu, I do see a Sharing tab, that has an option called “Synced Content”. I turned that ON, but I don’t see how that helps.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.
With some configuration, I was able to get an iPod sending a video to an iPad but not the other way around. In case it matters, the iPad was the Administrator one. I think the Fling/Cast is more of directing the output to another device, but what I was interested in was to be able to select a “source” of videos. I did end up seeing sources but not when using Managed Users, only the Regular User that I don’t usually use (my kids usually use the Managed User option). I think the biggest reason I would use this whole purpose is when we’re away from home and using the downloaded videos and no internet available. I’m pretty sure we were able to do this years ago (while in our van), but I can’t be 100% sure. There’s no need to do this at home because everyone has access to all of their videos in that environment.
If you want your kids to be able to sync media to their device so they can play it without using loads of mobile data you need to enable that in the sharing configuration for each account.
