Can Rasperry 3 play 1080p H.264 files ?

As the title says. can Raspberry 3 handle playback of high bitrate bluray, remuxes and encodes 1080p H.264 files ? No need of transcode only direct play. Im new to raspberry and need to know if raspberry is tright for me as a media player before i embark on this adventure of buying raspberry pi, sd card, power cable etc. Im thinking of installing Rasplex on it and use it as a Plex client to play all files direct from my local Plex server PC. Most of my files are high bitrate 1080p or straight Bluray remuxes so im worried i might face trouble with it. Will this work out ? Or should i go Intel Nuc ?

or maybe Chromebox ? So many things to choose from in the jungle. I want smoothest and cheapest plex client.

Yes, no problem for the rp3.

Intel Nuc is only worthwhile if you’re getting one that can handle HEVC x265 1080P. RP3 running rasplex plays just about everything else, except 10bit color.

No problem direct playing high bitrate H264 files on RPi2/3.

Yes, I have been using a rpi2 to playback 1080p with no problems. I’m certain that an rpi3 would have no issues.

Yes Indeedly doo it does…

Even the RPI2 can handle 1080p videos hi bitrates with DTS sound (passtrough). +40go BR RIP izy.
The only limitation will be your network.

Yeah, works like a charm.
