Blu-ray Remux + HD Audio

Hello

How well does it handle movies like 30gb blu-ray remux .mkv files with hd audio like dolby truehd or dts hd ma?

Is Raspberry Pi 3 able to decode HD audio and play high bitrate .mkvs?

I know that the Xbox 360/One, PS3/4 are not able too and it requires my PC to transcode.

I am wondering if this will be able to do that because it’s cheaper than an android box and I don’t even know if they are able to play them.

Thanks!

HD Audio is not supported on the Pi. But the Pi will play the core audio such as DTS or Dolby Digital. Rasplex supports 24p playback and it works very very well.

To ensure all blu rays playback you may need to buy the vc-1 and mpeg license keys so they play without the need for transcoding. These are purchased from the Raspberry Pi store.

I thought Rasplex did support decoding HD audio tracks but it can’t bitstream them. So no Dolby Atmos or DTS:X.

Yes, that’s correct…it can’t bitstream HD audio but can losslessly decode to multichannel PCM.
