I am able to stream from WIndows server to windows clients using VLC with no issue. Is there a way to access the streams through Rasplex?
Here is how I stream from VLC using a config file:
new channel801 broadcast enabled loop
setup channel801 input “D:\Media\MusicVideos\Kamelot\Kamelot - The Human Stain [Official Music Video] 2.mp4”
setup channel801 input “D:\Media\MusicVideos\Kamelot\Kamelot - The Great Pandemonium Official Video.mp4”
setup channel801 output #duplicate{dst=standard{access=udp,mux=ts,dst=192.168.0.41:1801,sap,name=“Ch801-Kamelot”}}
To view the stream from VLC I just use udp://@:1800
I have Plex Media Server setup which works great but doesn’t allow me to stream a constant feed of several channels playing the content I want to watch. With plex I have to manually find and select the show and start the show I want to watch where as with VLC I simply tune to the channel which is already running a constant feed of video. Works just like your TV does. Does plex server offer this ability? All I want to do is open a stream with rasplex client from VLC server. Same as opening a stream from vlc client to the VLC server.
The only way to watch streams as described above with any Plex client is when someone has created a Plex ‘channel’ for such use. That channel can then be installed in your PMS server, for use by any Plex client including RasPlex.
That said, most of the existing Plex channels do NOT work like that.
In most cases they just allow selection and playback of individual files from various online sites.
