i can play the files on vlc player no problem they look really good but when i try to add them to my plex they dont even show up in the folder

Plex TV Show File Name and Structuring Guide:
i have my folders named this way… is my video format just not supported? like if i open file location i can play it on my stock media player… when i try to add it into plex it doesnt show up in its folder… my only option is for like posters
and i do not have a problem with other tv shows being catagorized just this one in particular

on the occasion I’ve had this problem going to the folder and making sure that the .mp4 had a folder path like:
D:\plex\Plex tv\Afro\Season 01\Afro - S01E01 - ep title.mp4. do, that and then refresh (or rebuild) the channel.

Unfortunately you don’t want to hear what the fix is.
The problem is your files and structure are so far out of compliance it’s hilarious:

I’ll let you know this won’t work. If it’s worked in the past 6 months it’s a miracle. If you want your Plexiverse to stop giving you trouble you’ll bring your files into compliance with this guide:

LOL of course thats my problem… Well at least it doesnt seem to be that big of an issue i will try to file bot tonight and let you know if it doesnt fix my issue. And now i just feel like a scrub that i havent been naming my folders appropriatley and this could have been resolved awhile ago. Appreciate it lots ill post if i have issues
You’ll need to get familiar with…
The Plex Dance®:
- remove Show(s) or Movie(s) from the library (out of Plex’s sight)
- update library
- empty trash
- clean bundles

The reason we do The Plex Dance® is to write a new bundle that has the right stuff in it. That’s why it’s so important to have this stuff right BEFORE it goes in the library. Once Plex gets that bundle in it’s teeth it just won’t let go - unless we Plex Dance®.
ok so you totally fixed my problem. Now i have renamed this one file in particular but how do i go about renaming my whole library now haha… i have like 500 movies and im sure i must have a couple not showing up because of a naming issue. Would i just Drag the whole movie file for example like B;\movies
I wouldn’t do 500 all at once. 25 would be more reasonable.
Remove the first 25 from the library
update the library
empty trash
clean bundles
Drop 'em in FileBot for the washing away of their sins
put 'em back in library
update library
Just think how painful this would be if you have 10s of thousands of items and suddenly discover Plex lost access to that Bad Name Fixer-Upper (mid 2016) and every one of your items had a bad name (like yours)? Try not to think about it too much. The world is full of name-sinners and now you can help lead them to the light.
