At Plex staff. Can someone please tell me how my PMS software now has additional items in the dashboard? I have not updated the PMS since 1.13.4.5251 (due to the fact that I do not want my android devices to be forced onto your new horrible interface) and yet here is a significant amount more content added to my Plex. How is Plex updating this information without me allowing it?
- Your server is one thing.
- Totally independently from the server are the Android client devices. They are updated automatically from the app store. (unless you have sideloaded the app)
- Your plex.tv account is yet another thing which is independent from the software version on your server.
Could you please post a screenshot what items on which dashboard (particularly on which app) you are referring to?
If you’re referring to the new dashboard items in Plex Web:
I think you and FordGuy61 have answered my question. The plex.tv information is where I was confusing my PMS with the information being displayed when logging into the plex.tv web app. So thank you for that.
That being said, does that mean that my meta-information regarding all of my content that is being pulled from my personal server, and being displayed through the plex.tv web app is being hosted on Plex’s web servers? Is there some finite amount of control on that? Or how does that work?
this will not prevent or affect anything that is done to the clients
Read the thread I referenced. Your questions are answered by ericmatthys, a Plex employee.
Got it, thank you much!
No, definitely not.
If in the address bar of your web browser it says https://app.plex.tv/desktop
then it just means that the Plex client named ‘Plex Web’ was loaded from plex.tv into your browser.
Once this is done, the web app is running solely in your web browser and, crucially, only communicates directly with your Plex server(s).
No information about what is stored on your server or what you are watching from your server is forwarded to plex.tv
Copy, thank you much!
