Can someone tell me how to switch from Trailers app to iMovie or other App?

Looking for some clear instructions. It's hard for someone to jump in and find clear concise procedures for this stuff :)

I am very familiar with command line / *nix etc so I just need to know what file to change and where.

Changes in Settings.cfg: "hosttointercept".

Plus new certificate, so probably "certfile" as well.

so, just change the settings.cfg and then rename the cert file? Or do I need to make a new certfile?

Create a new one (for selected host), adapt the certfile setting, reload it to aTV.

Follow as @baa said on any OS/device or if on osx you can use OpenPlex if desired in my signature if you do not wish to use command line to swap hijacks/generate certs.

I have been using Terminal method since very beginning of Plexconnet, tried couple of others on the way that came out, but never liked any better. Now I was wondering if I could switch from using Trailers app to any other app. But problem is I can not upload cert to ATV3 itself because I have stacked it behind TV on the wall and would be hard for me to remove it physically from there and do usb upload thing and then put it back there. So any other easier method, or a method that does not require me to physically plug in a wire to ATV and upload new cert files?

Network method

I have better luck and find it easier to type in the “plexconnectip/trailers.cer” without the quotes into my aTV’s for example I type this URL into all my aTV’s since it’s my local OSX IP address (no http prefix required):

192.168.1.101/trailers.cer

is this specific trailers cert or it would work for any other app too?

Any app that can be hijacked. Look at my prior post, I edited it. I have some scripts here that you can copy and paste the cert generation part if you like into terminal:

WSJ

iMovie

Lines 22 & 23 (maybe only works for OSX & Linux?)

Any app that can be hijacked. Look at my prior post, I edited it.

so lets say I want to use WSJ app, do I change URL to reflect that or it still stays the same http://trailers.apple.com/trailers.cer

Only part I am unclear about it if its WSJ app.... then what would be the URL?

You can use “yourip/trailers.cer” for any hijacked app for example I use:

192.168.1.101/trailers.cer on all my aTV’s to hijack iMovie because I generated certs that way. Read the prior posts also. Your also need to change the hosttointercept is settings.cfg to:

hosttointercept = secure.marketwatch.com <------for wsj hijack

hosttointercept = www.icloud.com <----- for iMovie hijack

Then restart plexconnect to load new intercept. I usually delete all my old certs from the aTV(s) and restart the aTV(s) to ensure the cache is clear and the new hijack works.
