Has something changed with the Roku Plex app? Before when my internet would go out I could still access Plex… it would give me a warning saying the channel may need to connect to the internet and if I clicked the proceed button the Plex channel would open. NOW if my internet goes out and I try to access Plex I get a message saying it can’t run because it couldn’t be reinstalled from the network. Can someone help me? My port forwarding settings have not changed, so I thought it may be a problem with the Roku app.
Ok, so I uninstalled the app on Roku, reset Roku, then reinstalled the app. I also deleted some unused channels. Now I can open Plex channel on Roku, but my library is not available! The screen is blank, says it can’t connect and to retry.
In Plex network settings I’ve got secure connections as preferred, and at the bottom I’ve got my IP addresses allowed without auth: 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0, 127.0.0.1/255.255.255.0
And DLNA server is enabled.
On the Roku Plex settings automatically sign in is unchecked, allow insecure connections on same network, server discovery gdm is checked, and in manual connections I have my static ip and port 32400.
WHAT AM I MISSING?!?! Please help!
The way I understand it is that you have to login through the Roku to your Plex account.
Once you do that it has a token for your server.
If you loose your internet connection it will use the local route you set up.
That works because it already has the token as long as the Roku isn’t reset or logged out.
Thanks, I appreciate that info! I am able to get logged into Plex through the Roku and can view everything when my internet is connected. I am trying to test it offline to make sure it works before I have another internet outage. I thought I could do this by pressing the WiFi on/off button on my Netgear cable modem/router. But when I do, I can’t access Plex on Roku. It says my server not available. Am I not testing it right? Or do I not have something right in my settings? It’s baffling because it’s worked all this time until now and I haven’t changed anything.
Not sure how your hooked up but, disabling the WiFi would keep all WiFi devices offline.
What you want to do is remove the internet connection to test.
If you disable the WiFi and your Roku is using it to get to the server… well?
Unplug the internet cable from the router - that’ll show you what’s up.
Thanks! I was testing it wrong lol. I unplugged the cable from modem/router and I can access Plex offline! Woohoo! Now I’m prepared! I hate internet outages
There you go… excellent.
Plexweb is dead with no internet, but the Roku keeps on chuggin’…
