Can the "intro Skip" button stay on the screen longer?

Yeah, sometimes it takes awhile to find the remote.

The current 3-5 sec does not seem long enough, Maybe 10 seconds? Or how about for the length of the intro?

Only 3-5 seconds? In theory it should be there for 10 seconds

By design it was decided to show it for only 10 seconds, and then hide it.

Other clients (including iOS, after a fix that will be released soon) will still keep the button around with the on-screen controls, but not tvOS. Or at least not for now, there are some technical complexities to deal with, and even other tvOS apps (like Netflix) have the same limitation

Seems shorter than 10 seconds, I’ll check it out next time.

Yep, it does stay for about 10 seconds. I guess time flies when your stumbling around looking for the ATV remote in the dark.

A lot longer, pleeeease. I would prefer 30 seconds or for the duration of the intro.

It may be a limitation if the on screen controls for the player, but if not, I’d like the skip intro to show from the beginning of the file (0:00:00) through the end timestamp if the intro.

Even if it’s not possible, skip intro is awesome!

A bug report.

The skip intro button sometimes comes up for live tv., and not in the intro, just happened in the middle of Jeopardy.

:scream: :scream: :scream: I will look into that today, thanks for reporting!

For people fumbling around trying to find your remote to push skip intro, didn’t you just have it when you started the episode? At a minimum you had the 10 second countdown for the ā€œnext episodeā€ prompt as well as the credits of the previous episode so…you either just had the remote or you had a solid 20-30 seconds before the skip intro option popped up if you were already watching something

After every episode it shows what episode is next and gives you a 10 second countdown timer where you can either back out of it, let it countdown to 0 and it will start the next episode on it’s own or you can push select/enter and jump into it immediately.

It’s a setting you can turn on or off in the settings, under the ā€œexperienceā€ tab. 3rd option in - play ā€œup nextā€ videos automatically - not sure if it defaults to off or on, but that’s where the option is.

I couldn’t repro that on Live TV, and according to the server team it shouldn’t be possible at all. Is there any chance you were talking about DVR content instead?

If it happens again, please send me app and server logs and I’ll check if anything looks wrong there.

Thanks!

Don’t use the DVR, not reliable, it was live during the first round not even the intro. Was not the first time either. Happened in the middle of The Big Bang Theory a day ago also. Again not during the intro, live tv.

I vote duration of the intro. Great feature though.

Just came up again on tonight’s Jeopardy about 2 minutes in while Alex was reading the category’s. Live TV.

I just came to the forum to also ask for a little bit longer time on screen, too. Sometimes when I’m rewatching a series (like Star Trek: TNG) it pops up for a a few seconds before the intro actually starts (not a problem) and then the intro music doesn’t start for another 2 or 3 seconds after that. So it’s really only on the screen for about 4 seconds or so after the theme song actually starts, and if I’m rewatching something I’ve seen a bunch I might not be paying full attention and I miss being able to hit the button.

It’s not a show stopping issue, the feature is awesome, but if it could stay on another 5 or even 10 seconds (since 20 seconds is the min for the length of the intro for Plex to find) it would be awesomer.

This is mostly on iOS as that’s when I’ll be rewatching stuff while cooking and whatnot. I haven’t noticed it on the AppleTV but I’m usually watching those shows with more attention, so if it’ll stay on longer with a fix, cool. But I could see the same problem on tvOS at times.

But thanks again for an awesome feature!

Did you send logs like asked?

If the button disappears you can press the down arrow to pull up the menu and it shows up in there too.

I have an issue when watching The Good Fight, where it never shows up. I was thinking because the intro can sometime be 15-20 min into the show that it doesn’t search that far into the episode.

I thought logs were for ā€œothersā€ to supply.

I stopped submitting logs awhile ago. I have submitted hundreds in the past, only to have nothing done so I stopped waisting my time. I don’t get paid to help them fix their bugs.

This topic should be a formal feature request topic so I can ā€œvoteā€ on it. I would love to have a few extra seconds on screen to skip. I’m using Apple TV.

This is particular important for Anime. You’ll watch a couple minutes of the show and then the intro comes up. And anime will often will have lines of dialogue up until the last moment before the intro starts. The skip button pops up successfully, but it goes away once the intro starts.

I have been practicing the art of lightning fast reflexes of waiting for the last dialogue to finish, and hitting the ā€˜skip’ button before it suddenly disappears. I’m not always successful.

It would be nice if the button lingered for just a moment or 2 longer, into the intro.
