can one control Plex for Kodi using the Plex iOS app? I am running PfK on LibreElec on a headless server just for audio but my phone doesn’t list the PfK client (it lists all my other clients).
I’ve yet to break out tcpdump but that’s my next step.
Ok. Thanks for the answer. I’ve been looking for a reliable headless music player (to a USB DAC amp.) and already have a VM running Kodi to do my library scans. I tried:
Kodi: fail; with the official iOS app and other remote apps (MusicRemote) using large playlists the connection is unreliable. I should try upgrading Kodi.
Plex on Kodi: fail; no remote
PMP: fail; stuttering and slow playing, high CPU
OpenPMT on Windows: fail; regularly hangs
RasPlex: success
Anyway although it’s another device in the house I’m pretty happy with RasPlex. Especially that it supports the DARED DAC in my amp. Now if only the DLNA server on Plex supported playlists (like Kodi does)…
Hi. I do have VNC server already for maintenance (it’s a Windows VM - and Kodi doesn’t like starting under and RDP session).
But that’s cumbersome to have the VNC client on mobile devices to control simple tasks like adding tracks or playing playlists or rating tracks. The Plex iOS app looks beautiful and works well - it’s just a shame Plex for Kodi isn’t controllable as other Plex clients are.
Ahh yes. I use PlexAmp on my Mac but overlooked it for my RPi/VM. Can you suggest which Linux distro would be best? I’m not great with Linux distros, more of a FreeBSD man, but I can google my way around.
