Do I understand correctly that users can’t pin any collection for themselves, and admin can’t pin a collection only for a specific user (unless it’s admin himself)? I updated the server and only the admin has this option.
I really wanted the smart collections and collection pinning, and had a lot of ideas for using them, but I can’t find a way to use it individually. And I don’t have many cases where I would want a collection to be pinned for every user. Most of the things you can achieve with the great new Smart Collections results in a very personalized feed. Not everyone likes the same Director/Actor/Genre/Studio/Franchise/other criterias. Collections can be much more personal than default recommended sections, but for now it looks like pinning them is just as restrictive as pinning the default hubs like “Top Rated”. It’s either works for the admin, or for everyone else too.
Organization of the libraries is up to the admin… so yes, only the admin can configure which collections to show on the home screen (for themselves and/or shared users) / library recommendations.
Users can still create smart playlists from an advanced filter (which allows more/better filtering options than the previous custom filter).
Thanks for the reply! However, to my knowledge, you can not pin a playlist to the hub row either. I knew users can do things with smart playlists, but It’s the visibility feature I wanted the most. Hubs look nicer, more accessible, therefore sometimes more useful than playlists. And my users rarely remember about the playlists I shared to them.
For example, one of my friends watches a lot of new anime, and would love to have a row with “Top Spring 2021 Anime” collection on her home screen. But other users watch the anime only occasionally and would prefer to not have things like that enforced on them.
