How to Get Plex to Use My Metadata *Only*

Server Version#: 1.32.6.7557
Player Version#: N/A

Hi,

On my Plex Server I’ve set the Movies library to use ‘Plex Video Files Scanner’ as the scanner, and ‘Personal Media’ as the agent. The TV Shows library uses ‘Plex Series Scanner’ as the scanner, and ‘Personal Media Shows’ as the agent.

Under Settings → Agents → Movies → Personal Media I have ‘Local Media Assets (Movies)’ selected as first preference, with ‘Personal Media’ selected as second (I cannot de-select Personal Media).

Under Settings → Agents → Shows → Personal Media Shows I have ‘Local Media Assets (TV)’ selected as first preference, with ‘Personal Media Shows’ selected as second (I cannot de-select Personal Media Shows).

From research I’ve done online these are the settings required to have Plex use my metadata rather than it’s own.

However when browsing my media via DLNA, Plex keeps showing me it’s metadata instead of the metadata I have applied to the files myself. How can I fix this?

Thanks!

The settings → agents page is only for legacy agents. If you’ve already upgraded to the newer Plex TV series and Plex movie agent/scanner those settings no longer apply to you

3 dots next to the library → Manage Library → Edit → Advanced

Scroll down on this page and configure the settings here

Hi JaysPlex7,

When I try applying the settings per your screenshot Plex says it can’t save the changes.

I had to delete and re-add the library but once I did so your suggestion worked. Thanks for the help!
