Can we get a "play & stop" siri command?

I made a shortcut that will run Plexamp and set airplay to my stereo, but the only way that I see to do this is to use the “Play library Radio” option which clears the current playlist or album that I want to continue.

So can there be a “continue playing” or something added? A “stop or pause” command would also be nice.

That’s actually working quite straightforward for me…

  • Play London Grammar → starts playback
  • Stop → stops playback
  • Continue playback → continues playback

Though Siri got a bit confused when I tell her to Stop music (lower case M) → “There’s no active playback”.
I suppose that’s because Siri understands Stop Music (capital M) and considers it a command for the Apple Music app.

Play London Grammar → starts playback

Yeah, but I don’t want to start a new playback, I want to continue playing what I was listening to .

That is why just want a “Play” action, unless I am missing something.

Continue playback will continue the currently playing song / queue. Even Continue seems to do the trick

I’m sorry but I do not see how to add that command to a shortcut like above. I maybe able to SPEAK that to Siri, but want to program a shortcut it does not give me those options.

My bad… I was only referring to the actual voice commands – shortcuts are more limited.

Just say “Hey Siri, play music” — this will continue your current play queue, or start a library radio if you don’t have anything playing.

as in previous post, I would like to make a routine that will select my airplay destination and then continue what I was playing. (like in screenshot above)
