Any update on this feature becoming mainstream? Just bought the DS916+ as my first NAS as I read it handles 4K transcoding but then I read this thread. Hope I haven’t chosen wrong.
+1 PLEASE enable this feature. I bought the 916+ because of the HW feature not knowing that plex did not support it.
Just +1
Would be great to get this working reliably enough to be beyond experimental to the daily-use level.

The DS916+ has specs that should allow it to hardware transcode pretty much everything.
+1 highly needed!
If you have plexpass and the 1.9.3 plex 64bit synology package installed (downloaded from the plex download page) HW transcoding via the Intel CPU and Quicksync is available, you just need to turn it on under transcoder and unhide the advanced settings.

I do not have this NAS right now but i think having full support for this kind of CPU is really important. Plus, we need to break down some HW encoding by synology.

It’s has been available for a few months now. You do need Plex Pass and need to use the 64-bit version of Plex Media Server (so NOT the PMS you can install through Synology Package Manager).
