Can we talk about the dysfunctional post play screens on ATV?

Scenario 1: Weekly show watch latest episode.

Why does it show as Up Next the episode I just watched? Either it should show nothing or maybe the oldest or newest On Deck Item.

Scenario 2: Binge watching a show.

Why is it showing me on the lower left that the Next Up is the episode I just watched?
Why is it showing as not finished? It should show me my On Deck so if I want to switch out of binge watching, I can easily just select the next on deck.

Can someone from Plex explain the logic behind these post play screens.

What exact version of Plex for Apple TV are we talking about?
From what I remember there’s been a known bug that has been / is to be addressed in the recent betas.

As you have considered… there’s no particular logic… seems this is a bug that was introduced with the 2.17

  • Updated media detail screens with new unified platform designs.

(which also included updates to the post-play screens)

That’s a known server bug. The content of that screen depends on what the server tells us to show. The server team still has to look into it.

For more info, this has probably been a bug on the server for a long time, but it was “hidden” until the recent post-play changes on the clients (Apple TV so far). As far as we know only happens when you play on deck episodes which happen to be the last episode available on a given TV Show, any other time it should work fine :crossed_fingers:

So your saying if I pay the same episode from the Recently Added section, I would get a different post play screen?

Hmmm I don’t think so, you will get the same if that episode is the On Deck episode of its show and it’s also the last episode available of that show :confused:

Yes, as I already mentioned it’s a known server bug. The server team will address it when they have a chance, hopefully soon! :crossed_fingers:

There is still a (very frequent) crash in the Post Play screen that we’re unable to reproduce or understand, but we’ll try to spend more time on it soon… :crossed_fingers:
