Can you change the temporary directory used for Sync (not the same as for Transcoding)

I was waiting to the SHIELD Oreo upgrade to check if something would have changed regarding the location of the Sync’ed files but this is not the case. Still trying to sync in the internal memory, even when PMS data has been moved successfully to External. Could we get an explanation if this is expected or if it could be fixed? Thanks!

Bump, any answer or confirmation if this can or will be fixed would be appreciated.

Hey,

Can we get some feedback from the plex team on this? It’s a flaw, I have a 30gb primary ssd, I can’t sync content to other device because the sync folder fills up to quickly and then on each device i get “You server’s hard is running low on space, less than 10gb available”.

And another bump… This affects usability of Sync… Is this in the list of improvements to the Sync functionality that was mentioned in the last newsletter?

Pushing this one back to the list. Real bummer that we cannot use the sync function :frowning:
Any update would be very welcome, we can move the transcode folder, is there something really special about the sync one ?

Agreed on this. So frustrating that this is still an issue after almost 2.5 years.

Bump.

Anyone have a solution to this problem – in summary:
There is a need to be able to configure an external drive for the Sync+ folder (used for transcoding Sync content only) on the Nvidia Shield

Agree, this is huge for me. Now that Plex has fixed all the bugs and instabilities with the SHIELD over the last year I’m hoping this makes it on the roadmap soon.

Not sure if this is helpful for those using a Shield (I’m not familiar with that platform) but I got this to work on Linux by doing a bind mount from the Sync and Sync+ folders to a network share with more free space.

This is potentially doable with root on the Shield, which I have. Can you tell us the exact directory those folders are located in Linux?

For me it’s /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache/Transcode/Sync+, but it depends where Plex is installed. See this KB.
