Ok, so I’ve gone through the support page, forums, the plex subreddit, I even made a post about this issue on Friday the 16th of September, and have still not been able to sort this. For at least 3 weeks, since updating my server to version 1.1.4.2757, none of my devices can access Plex. Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, all tested and none can access. I am sorry if this is an inappropriate forum for this, but given plex have no direct support system, and I am a paying customer, I’m pretty much at the end of my patience at this point. Having exhausted other possibilities, this is my last stop before just wiping the program and looking for something else, which I’d really rather avoid.
I should also note that while I’m capable, I’m fairly networking-illiterate. If I need to fiddle with any network/server settings, please include detailed instructions.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, it is accessible on the plex web and windows apps, but I’ve only been able to test that on the laptop that the server is stored on, so I assume that is why.
When you can’t find what you’re looking for in the help documents or are uncertain, this is the first place to ask regardless of where you post.
You state your gaming consoles cannot access your server but you have access via the Windows app. Are you running your server on Windows and do you mean you are accessing the server directly, on the server, via the http://127.0.0.1:32400/web and http://plex.tv/web addresses ?
What it sounds like you’re describing is a loss of connectivity between you and Plex.tv (Settings - Server - Remote Access) or your firewall is blocking Plex’s ports.
As the first step in diagnosis, Please check them… The complete list of what ports your laptop must allow is listed here: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201543147-What-network-ports-do-I-need-to-allow-through-my-firewall-
Next, simply walk through the sequence again of signing out and into your account at your server and at your devices.
Next, go to Settings - Server - Remote Access and verify it shows the green check mark ( IF you want remote access to your server. Ignore this step if you don’t)
In Settings - Server - Network:
- Turn off IPV6 if enabled
- Set “Secure Connections” to “PREFERRED” (if you have set to “Required” and have other issues, this will prevent your server from being seen)
- All other fields on the Network page should be cleared at this time. Later , if you need to turn off Local-LAN security, you may do so by setting the value for “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth”
Has this brought you closer to reestablishing connectivity?
Well, that seems wonky to say the least. The point of upgrade makes me suspect the introduction of local authentication that were put in as a default at that time. I’d start by trying and adding a client or two to the IP-list excluding them of this need and see if that helps. You shouldn’t have to do this with those clients I must say, so if it works then we know something isn’t quite right.
