Is Plex down

I’m unable to see my Plex server at all at the moment. The server is running and it looks like there’s nothing wrong in the log. But when I connect to the Plex server it can’t find my server at all.
Nothing has changed on my end and I’m seeing the same behaviour on all my clients.

How are you trying to access your server (e.g. from an app, browser…; local/remote)?
Not seeing any issues on my end right now

Same here, cant access my server at plex.tv. I can still use the Plex app on my Shield to watch stuff. Just cant access the server settings at plex.tv.

Browser (Chrome on multiple systems) and NVidia Sheild

That’s what I saw initially, I could see the server from my main desktop (Chrome) and Nvidia Sheild, but not my laptop. However, I think login tokens expire, becuase now I can’t see it from any device.

Just checking to see if y’all are still having issues. I’m not aware of any outage around the time you posted.

I am having the same issue. I have a dedicated Windows computer for just Plex Server. It’s been working fine and when I open Plex Server on it, I can see all my “local” shows. However, if I open app.plex.tv on that computer, I get error “Plex is not reachable”. If I try to update the server (it’s running 1.25.6.5577) and I click on “Please install manually” the page won’t open - times out. When I try to access Plex on my phone, TV (Roku) or even another computer, I cannot see any of my local media that I CAN see on the dedicated Plex Server computer. This started about 3-4 days ago. I did manually update both Plex Server and Windows Plex via USB on the dedicated Plex computer - nothing has changed. This appears to be similar to the issue earlier this week where access to logging in and downloading updates wouldn’t work. Plex page says this has been resolved, but in my case, I’m still experiencing it.

@gwilliamhouse your accounts shows your server has not been seen in 16 days. which means plex.tv cannot reach it. Can you please try restarting your server computer and if still having issue grab server logs

Oh, that’s interesting. I know it was working a week ago as I was able to watch local media shows on two different tvs. I’ve attached the latest logs. I have restarted the server computer multiple times, updated manually the server and even reinstalled Windows Plex.

It should not have affected local clients that might not require secure connection but app.plex.tv and usually remote clients require secure connections.

I reset your cert incase that was it. So can you try to restart again if you did not just do so. Something does seem to be preventing your server from getting a new one in logs.

Also can you check your hosts file and see if there are any Plex entries in it. ( there should not be) Info on host file here. https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/27350/beginner-geek-how-to-edit-your-hosts-file/

I assume you have a pretty standard network set up. Are you running any VPNs or anything like that which might affect traffic

Ok, so you get the magical award of the month…or maybe even employee of the month. I re-booted and it was the same. When I went to plex.tv on the server machine I got a warning from google it wasn’t safe and all the Live Tv, Movies & Shows and Web Shows categories had !! on them.

I looked at the hosts file that did have some old Plex stuff from a VPN Bypass I used a year ago because I can never get Plex Server to be accessed remotely with a VPN, so I just give users my login and that usually works.

ANYHOW, I cleared out that from the hosts file, (even though it’s been there for at least a year) and re-booted again and IT’S WORKING! So maybe it was the cert after all .

Either way, thank you thank you thank you. I was going crazy trying all kinds of things and knowing i was just working recently.

BigWheel, you saved my sanity.

Thanks also for such a quick reply. I wasn’t expecting to see a reply until Monday.

Can you try resetting my cert. I have a spare system that I setup as a PLEX server which is working OK, but I’ve tried everything to get the original server working again, but I’m seeing the same errors that gwilliamhouse was seeing

It is done but your cert looked fine.
