Cannot add a folder with MP4 files to my plex "music" library

Server Version#:4.125.1
Player Version#:
When I add a folder called “Jersey Boys” with 8 .mp4 music videos, to my “Music” library it does nothing - “Music Library” is empty. But when I add the same folder to my “Movies” library all 8 .mp4 videos appear.

Make sure to only add library folders to the library, not individual album or artist folders.

I have 4 folders on my computer that I want saved to Plex Library.

  1. My folder named “Law & Order” with 247 files, episodes- successfully added to Plex " TV Shows" library

  2. My folder named “Movies” with 1 file, a movie (.mp4) - successfully added to Plex “Movies” library

  3. My folder named “Family” with (4) .mp4 files - successfully added to Plex “Other Videos” library

  4. My folder named “Music” with (5) .mp4 music videos - tried to add Plex “Music” library but unsuccessful. But I am able to add this folder to Plex “Movie” library.

Is it because this folder does not actually contain music tracks, it has music videos???

That might be the issue.
Plex treats music videos as extras of existing albums (matching an existing track name) or artists. They’re not standing on their own in a music library.
If you plan a pure music video library, you might be better off adding them to an other-video library, either manually editing their metadata or embedding metadata into the file and have Plex prefer those tags. You could group music videos of the same artist / event in collections to maintain some level of organization.
