Trouble getting music videos to work

Hi there

I’m trying to add music videos to plex according to this guide https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/205568377-Adding-Local-Artist-and-Music-Videos
However, I’m unable to add new once, and if I do, all the existent disappears :frowning: then I have to delete the music Librarie, only to re add it, and reindex etc…

Any suggestion for what/where to look?

Affected OS for media server: Windows 2016, windows 8.1, Linux Mint 18.1, Ubuntu server 16.10

Are you trying to add them Inline or with a Global Music Videos folder?

Can you provide screenshots of the folder where the video(s) are located?

Well, that all looks right (except for ‘08 - Comme moi ft. Shakira-video.mp4.’ The flac filename includes ‘Black M’. - But that shouldn’t be the cause of the overall problem.)

And you say when you try to add a new video, all the existing ones disappear? What are your specific steps for doing this?

Just copying/moving new music-video file into corresponding folder or downloading directly with youtube-dl

And then doing something to tell Plex to look for it?

Your filenaming is off. They need to have the exact same title. Your songs have a . after the track number and your videos have a -. They need to be exactly the same.

Won’t work

  1. Me Enamoré.flac
    01 - Me Enamoré-lyric.mp4
    01 - Me Enamoré-video.mp4

I haven’t tested, but these names should work

  1. Me Enamoré.flac
  2. Me Enamoré-lyric.mp4
  3. Me Enamoré-video.mp4

or

01-Me Enamoré.flac
01-Me Enamoré-lyric.mp4
01-Me Enamoré-video.mp4

dammit :slight_smile: Thought MovieFan had it.

Just to be thorough, the filenames are now exactly alike, down to the spaces (there was no space before the period, but there is before the dash)?

Wait a minute - according to the Help page, the filename should start with the exact filename, but it mentions a ‘descriptive text’ between the filename and the ‘-video’ at the end. I never thought that ‘descriptive text’ was required, but maybe…

What happens if you make it like this:

01-Me Enamoré.flac
01-Me Enamoré-lyric.mp4
01-Me Enamoré - Me Enamoré-video.mp4

I repeated the track name, but that text could be anything, I think. I’m looking at my inline videos, and that’s how they’re named.

Yeah, I found one of mine like that too, and it works. I’m stumped.

Provide the scanner log so I can see what is going on.

A little update…

Added a few videos to one of my music folders added video type -video.ext and for some reason that was working, BUT, now I changed the type according to the docs into -live.ext and nope they didn’t appear, ok, I changed the type back into -video.ext and wierd, after a “Refresh Metadata” they came back, but never on a library scan :wink:
