Cannot Create Premium Music Library

Server Version#: 1.15.0.545
Player Version#: Web Client 3.77.4

Synology DS218Play with Plex Pass

Hi All, I have read and re-read every post trying to fix this issue. I can only create a basic music library. The Premium Option is not available. I have tried everything. All other Plex Pass options are active and working, just not Premium music.

I have started fresh, logged in and out, upgraded, downgraded, sideways-graded.

I have stopped PMS, cleared the logs, started PSM and created a music library. None of the logs indicate a premium music library being created. In fact none of the logs show that a Music Library is created at all, even though it is there and working. Maybe that is because it is a basic library?

I am at a loss. I am a 30+ year IT professional and I am stumped. I am hoping someone with a fresher brain may have an answer before I lose even more hair

Hi Trumpy, thanks for the quick response.

The Options Tab is not there, hence the ‘Create a premium library’ is not available either

I have tried 3 previous versions but I will give this a go. Standby!

Version now 1.15.0.550

No change - Options Tab not visible - No Premium Music - arrgghhhh

Yes mate. There are numerous threads on this same issue of which nothing works for me. Plex Pass options in movies etc. are all working successfully. Just music is causing grief

Hi Trumpy,

No good. Logs are attached. These are clean-ish logs from today

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-01-09_16-47-07.zip (121.8 KB)

Sorry Trumpy.

Logs attached. I created a new Music Library called Music_Test. I will be off the air for around 45 mins in case you think I have left you

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-01-09_17-05-07.zip (86.1 KB)

Oh no. That is not what I wanted to hear… Is that public knowledge because I looked high and low for information… Do your sources think it will be available in a later release? It’s one of the main reasons I paid for the Plex Pass.

And yes, AC/DC rocks !!

Thanks Trumpy! Where are you based btw?

Lovely part of the world. I’m in Newcastle :sunglasses:

For me, none of those option show up until AFTER I have selected the music directory. Once you do that, the aility to specify a Premium library shows up.

Hi mate,

nope option still not there. I don’t think it is supported still on ARM processors

Premium Libraries are not supported for ARM processors. We have not yet received the needed modules (run time libraries) from Gracenote.

Trumpy stated this above.

Well, crud. I’ve been playing around with the premium music libraries and I’m not completely sold yet. For one thing they take FOREVER to scan. Then if you have an album that it can’t recognize, it just hangs. So if you have a collection of songs for someone, like it was a 10 CD set but you don’t know the track order or don’t have all the tracks, it will try to place the album based on what is in there but if it fails, it won’t move on. This has kept me from using the function. Last time I tried was several months ago. I may give it another shot to see if it is better today. But previously i could never get the entire library of 500,000 songs to completely scan.

A tool such as MusicBrainz Picard (for Linux) or other tool will put everything in proper order very quickly with optimal tags.

A 500,000 song library (which is insane BTW) would need be done in blocks of 5000 songs.
Structure the files and add one “block of 5000 folder” at a time.
As each finishes, Edit the folder list and add another. PMS does not care if 100 folders are listed.

Insane? LOL Everyone needs a hobby. 99% of it is in folders like this.
A\Artist\Album
B\Artist\Album

Some may be
A\Artist 1\Studio\Album
A\Artist 1\Live\Album
A\Artist 1\Compilation\Album

Depends on how many albums that person has.

I’ll check out MusicBrainz. What happens if you toss stuff that is already well organized at it?

In your case, Add one letter and let it finish then Optimize the Database before adding the next top level letter.

Insanity is relative and we are NOT talking about my relatives in a public forum :stuck_out_tongue:

If the media is well organized already, and per plex naming, nothing happens.

My Plex naming for MusicBrainz is:

$if2(%albumartist%,%artist%)/
$if2(%albumartist%,%artist%) - %album%/
$if($gt(%totaldiscs%,1),Disc %discnumber%/,)
$num(%tracknumber%,2) - %title%

I deliberately have Picard placed the renamed files in a new root directory so I know what’s done and what isn’t. It allows me to verify everything is accounted for. When the master diretory is clear, One linux mv command and everything is back in position without actual data moving.

Any news if Gracenote will ever provide run time libs for armv8? Or is this never going to happen? Premium Music is one of the reasons why I bought lifetime plexpass :frowning:

In the docs it was supported for ARM NAS devices in the past https://support.plex.tv/articles/205041208-media-server-support-for-premium-music-libraries/

There has been no advancement from Gracenote.
Until they provide the libraries we need, we are stuck.

Sorry.

Any news from Gracenote?
