Can't create a Premium Music library anymore

Server Version#: 1.16.1.1273
Player Version#:

I have tried to create a new music library but I don’t see any options in the create process for a Premium Music library or any settings to chose the number of genres.
I do have a lifetime plex pass.
Any ideas what the issue can be?

Are you sure your server is signed into your Plex Pass-enabled account?
It also needs internet connectivity.

Yes I’m signed in and have internet connection and the server is available outside my network.

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 2 minutes
  6. Try to create a music library
  7. wait 3 minutes
  8. fetch log files and attach them here

I only had to logout from the server computer and claim the server again and it works fine now.

Thank you for your quick advice.

I’m having the same issue. I initially thought this was something I needed Tidal for. I was still unable to create a premium library after signing up for Tidal though. Running PMS on a Windows 10 system. Logs attached.

Any advice would be welcome.

I fixed it by logout from my plex media server on my server PC and claimed it again.

I tried logging out and back in again. I don’t have the option to claim my server.

In the settings for the server is where you should log out and in again

Seems like this might be an issue with the latest Plex Pass Version on Multiple platforms.

Of the 3 platforms I have servers on, I can not add Premium Libraries on Mac or Synology.

The option still shows up on my server on Linux…

I did try signing out and back in on my Mac server, it made no difference…

Edit.

I just tried downgrading my Mac to the current Public release, still can not create Premium Music Libraries. So maybe it’s a Plex Back End issue…

If I inspect the requests made when trying to add a new Music Library.

On my Mac PMS I get this:

<MediaContainer noHistory="0" replaceParent="0" size="2" identifier="com.plexapp.system">
  <Scanner name="Plex Music Scanner"/>
</MediaContainer>

On my Linux PMS I get this:

<MediaContainer noHistory="0" replaceParent="0" size="2" identifier="com.plexapp.system">
  <Scanner name="Plex Music Scanner"/>
  <Scanner name="Plex Premium Music Scanner"/>
</MediaContainer>

I wonder if it something to do with this:-

Even though you are using a version above 1.15.8. Maybe a bug while they were sorting this out?

I have the same issue. I can’t add a premium library.

Same here I got nothing on my Ubuntu server

hmm, that ruins my theory, that Linux was ok :wink:

I can still create Premium Music Libraries on my PMS on Ubuntu, but not on my Mac or Synology PMS

I think it must be some sort of problem where Plex is not correctly identifying that the servers are allowed to create premium libraries.

If I get my plex token and go to the local webapp for my server(s) e.g.

http://127.0.0.1:32400/system/scanners/8?X-Plex-Token=putyourtokenhere

On my PMS on Ubuntu I get this:

<MediaContainer noHistory="0" replaceParent="0" size="2" identifier="com.plexapp.system">
<Scanner name="Plex Music Scanner"/>
<Scanner name="Plex Premium Music Scanner"/>
</MediaContainer>

On my Mac and Synology servers I get this:

<MediaContainer noHistory="0" replaceParent="0" size="2" identifier="com.plexapp.system">
<Scanner name="Plex Music Scanner"/>
</MediaContainer>

All servers are signed in to the same Plex Account

When did you restart this server last time? Try restarting it now, then re-evaluate.

lol, if that’s going to break it, not sure that I want to :wink:

It will break anyway. Gracenote support is going away, both for music metadata and for EPG. So a premium music library, which currently is de-facto “married” to GN, won’t work anyway.

If you need to create a new music library right now, go with the ‘Plex Music Scanner’.

So just to clarify, if we want to create new Premium Music Libraries we will need to wait til Plex makes the change from Gracenote?

Which based on that information post, I am guessing will be from the 1st of July or the release of 1.16.2 as mentioned by @trumpy81

There will probably be no need to create Premium music libraries anymore. Premium music features will very likely not require a separate type of music library anymore. But that is an educated guess. Don’t take it as gospel.
