I am a Plex Pass subscriber who has just downloaded and updated and logged in to Plex on a new machine. When I attempt to create a Premium music library it creates a non-premium library. I also do not have access to any other perks I should have due to my subscription. Any ideas?
Running: Windows 10
Plex Server: Version 1.12.0.4829
Chrome: Version 65.0.3325.162
I have checked that my server says I am signed in with the account that has a Plex Pass
you having the option to create a premium music library indicates that Plex is recognizing you’ve got a Plex Pass.
what exactly is happening when you create the new music library – can you quickly walk me through the steps from where you pick it’s supposed to be a Premium Music Library until where you find it didn’t create one?
Sure. After choosing to create a new library and selecting music, browsing to a folder I have with just 1 album (to test with), getting to the options and being sure I have “Create a premium Plex music library!” selected, I click ‘next’.
It brings up the advanced options screen which I have been leaving mostly as default, having only Include in Dashboard, the 3 Download options with Gracenote level set to 500. Click ‘create library’, and it does. The library it creates is not a premium library. It does not have any of the expected, upgraded options a premium library would have. No artwork, bios, reviews. No Plex Mix, and no Radio fuctionality when using Plexamp.
Let me know if more info would help. Thanks for your thoughts.
ah… indeed.
I’ve just tried this myself (once you have them setup, you don’t constantly re-do your libraries ;)). It appears that Plex is ignoring the settings. During my test I figured out that those features appear to be (temporarily?) gone from my regular Premium Music Library as well… let me check if this is a known issue, a glitch or something else (I know that e.g. lyrics aren’t available around the world due to issues with varying licenses in different countries).
ok… it appears I’ve been a little rush when posting this in the middle of last night.
let’s take a more sober look (as in not sleep deprived – not not-being-drunk).
When you look at the library’s advanced settings (library: Edit > Advanced) - do you get the settings regarding Gracenote’s categorization granularity (Gracenote genre level), Download concert information, Download popular track information and Download album reviews?
When you’re accessing your music in Artist view… do you get a table with popular songs of this artist (in your library)?
Plex Mix should be available on track level – can you start a Plex Mix when hovering over a single song and clicking the ... button?
It also appears Plex takes some time to download all the information for your library. On my end I also had to trigger a refresh of my Premium Music Library’s metadata to obtain the latest concert information (none were showing before as they were simply outdated)…
Looking at the advanced setting i do have the Gracenote granularity and the 3 download options. Gracenote set to 500 genres and all the download options checked.
-In artist view i do get a popular songs table
-I do NOT have the option to start a Plex Mix in the … menu when hovering over single tracks
I have refreshed the metadata both on my larger library and the much smaller testing one. I have also tried to initiate the Analyze Library option and when i try to initiate that it appears to do nothing. I suppose it could be doing something in the background, but it gives me no indication that anything is happening (unlike when I refresh metadata and it shows you its progress).
Anywhere I can go to get actual Plex support? I appreciate the time spent by others to help me troubleshoot, but if the issue is still unresolved who do I turn to when the community doesn’t have the answer? Otherwise, I will just have to stop paying for a Plex Pass that includes features I am not able to utilize and can not fix since it seems there’s no real support.
Note: It may not always be possible to create a Plex Mix for you. The larger your music library, the more chance that Plex Mix will be available for any particular track.
Give it a try with various tracks…
