Server Version#: 1.20.3.3437
Player Version#: 5.2.1
I would like to check how the content I watch is processed server-side (transcoded, direct stream/play etc…). I downloaded the server logs and found references to the file I played but only infos like “Play progress is blabla” for the file I played back. Where exactly would I find info on this and how would it look like?
Streaming Resource: Reached Decision id=4306 codes=(MDE=1000,Direct play OK.) media=(id=11089 part=(id=11661 decision=direct play protocol=dash streams=(Video=(id=25320 decision= width=720 height=574)...
Completed: [yada.yada.yada.yada:yada] 200 GET /video/:/transcode/universal/decision?directPlay=1&directStream...
Is that what you had on your mind? If so I interpret the first line that something was deemed feasible for DirectPlay. What is that something? Which id do I need to identify the actual file? Why is the second line calling an URL starting with “transcode”?
Need full logs in a zip, and not just a snip, and now please alter you thread title, since you are now asking why a transcode takes place, and not where log entries are
Thanks for the answer, dane22, I posted the example snippet only to verify I that I located the pattern you had on your mind. Please note that I do not know if my content is transcoded or not as I do not understand the logs yet. I would prefer to stick with the current title for now.
I attachedPlex Media Server Logs_2020-10-18_17-32-55.zip (1.9 MB) with a very recent log. The actual playback I am referring to happens ~ 17:27. I am sorry I cannot give you a better id as I have not understood the id system yet.
