This worked until today. Firefox login goes in circles asking me to present my credentials, then warning that Plex is on 192.168.x.x do I want to continue. So when I login, it just cycles around. I can log in with Opera, but Opera can’t play the videos now! For now, these are the only two browsers I use. Plex has all of a sudden become useless. I have seen that other are “sometimes” successfully logging in by turning off various browser settings, but these are not working for me. Ugh!
FireFox is often too tin-foil tightly wrapped.
This is not an uncommon problem.
You have to start making exceptions for it to talk to the server, remove some of its security-restrictive plug-ins and/or just use another browser (Chrome or Brave work fine).
I think there should be a client application instead of a browser application. Then there wouldn’t be a browser dependency. I notice that Opera can’t play the videos. It’s reminiscent of the days of designing web pages and having to test EVERY browser just to make sure they work.
This worked fine until today (yesterday). I am on Linux Mint 19.3. Firefox is now on version 77.0.1 and I do think there was a recent upgrade. I have turned everything off I can think of that would effect a connection, but it does not make a difference.
I was able to get it to work with Waterfox. At this point I am mostly reporting this to alert PLEX users and developers that this is going to be a problem going forward with Firefox unless the problem can be isolated and/or the developers can find a way to work around it.
