Cannot login to web app using Firefox

Server Version#: 1.19.3.2852-219a9974e
Player Version#:

Problem: Beginning recently I cannot login to the web player using Firefox anymore, when accessing through localhost (127.0.0.1) or local network.

Symptom:

  • When opening web app’s homepage, a progress wheel briefly shows before the page redirects to app.plex.tv/auth/,
  • Upon signing in through the auth portal, the page navigates back to local server, before redirecting to app.plex.tv/auth/ again, this time saying “There was an error signing in”
  • This will repeat forever.

Platforms and software tried:

  • PMS on macOS (1.19.3.2852) and Raspbian (Raspberry Pi) (1.19.3.2764)
  • Firefox on macOS (76.0.1, latest) and Raspbian (68.8.0esr)
  • Unaffected: Other browsers, such as Chrome, Safari, and Firefox on iOS.
  • Unaffected: Other methods to access PMS, such as through mobile app, and app.plex.tv
  • Unaffected: Firefox Developer Edition (77.0b9, latest) (this makes it seem like a Firefox issue)

Attempts to fix:

  • Logging out and then logging in again; logging in using another Plex account
  • Clearing browser cache, clearing website data for plex.tv, localhost, and 127.0.0.1 domain, using Private mode, disabling Firefox’s Enhanced Tracking Protection
  • Removing PMS preferences and reinstalling PMS

I’ve seen a few topics on this issue now. Any help to fix, hints on troubleshooting, where to find logs, etc. are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Please read There was an error signing in (AGAIN!).

Thanks for pointing that out! I will join that thread instead.

Hi, i have the same problem but the linked-to solution does not work for me (either does not exist or is private). Is there a way for me to get access to that thread, or find the content if it no longer exist?

best regards

I also have this problem on Firefox running on Ubuntu if it matters.
I assume my credentials have expired and it is not redirecting to login page.

Greetings,
same Problem with latest Firefox here - Edge is working ?!
And the solution cannot be accessed …
