Server Version#: 1.13.4.5271-200287a06 on Synology NAS DS218J
Player Version#: ?
I am a new Synology DS218j / Plex Premium Pass user. I love using Plex on my NAS, it has been a wonderful experience thus far.
I just saw the announcement about Plex Premium Pass:
Starting July 1, Plex Media Server version 1.15.8 or higher will be required to continue to add music to Premium music libraries.
I noticed that my Plex Package install on my DSM is v1.13.4.5271-200287a06
So I attempted to download the Plex Package from the Plex download page for my NAS which is ARMv8 18 series.
I am getting the following error message:
"This package is not supported on the platform of DiskStation or is not compatible with the current DSM version."
My DSM is the latest version: DSM 6.2.2-24922
I have also tried to download and install the version from the server update in Plex Web and get the same message.
What can I do to update to PLEX v1.16.0.1226
Thank you.
Best,
Dameon
Unfortunately, we were never able to get the required binary libraries from our supplier (Gracenote) for the ARMv8 processors.
Since that time, Plex has started migrating to a new provider completely.
As of 1.16.2, you will have that new provider. (1.16.1 is about to become Public and 1.16.2 become Plex Pass )
Did you try the ARMv8 version you downloaded from Plex directly?

Sorry. I don’t understand what you’re saying. Are you saying that my Plex Premium service will not be disrupted and that an updated Plex version will soon be available that I can install on my Synoloogy DS218j?
The package inside my DSM is 1.13.4.5271-200287a06.
I’m not aware of another download location.
The Synology / Plex web page lists the latest version of Plex as: 1.13.4.5271-200287a06

Chuck was addressing the Plex Premium music issue. When using an ARMv8 processor, Premium music libraries are NOT supported due to Gracenote’s inability to provide the necessary binaries.
OK. Thanks.
trumpy81:
In regards to installing Plex on your NAS, make sure you always download the package from the Plex Downloads page.
Thank you for returning to the original topic:

Firstly, do NOT use Safari or Chrome to download the package, they have been known to not complete the download correctly.
Secondly, make sure you check the SHA-1 checksum of the downloaded package against the checksum displayed on the Plex Downloads page. If they do not match, download the package again.
See Q3 on the Synology FAQ’s page for more details on installing Plex manually, link in my profile.
I’ve done everything you said and it’s still not working. I still have the same problem.
trumpy81:
I know what’s wrong, the DS218j is the only x18 model that uses an ARMv7 processor … doh!
Yes! Working now! Thank you for engaging the warp drive to help me with this. Now I know more about checksums than I ever wanted to know!
Very happy it’s working. Love the Plex experience. Great work Plex team!
Just noticed that I have lost Plex Premium features on my music. I deleted the library and added it again, but the option to add the library as a Plex Premium Library is not there.
I just downloaded and installed v1.16.2.1297-4b7ace214 available as of July 3, 2019 and My Plex Premium Pass features are still missing. I deleted the music library and added it again but adding it new did activate Plex Pass features. How about you @trumpy81 ?
Update I restarted my NAS, cleared browser history and tried again. Same result. Plex Pass features still AWOL*
Please do the following:
Make certain the NAS is connected to the network.
Make certain the NAS has the correct adapter selected as the Default Gateway
Please then restart PMS
Wait 60 seonds
Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
Attach the ZIP file here.
Most likely causes of this failure:
NAS has no actual internet connectivity to reach Plex.tv for Plex Pass authentication.
Logged into non-Plex Pass account
“Also: Please note that starting July 1, Plex Mix and the ability to create new Premium Music Libraries will be temporarily unavailable. We’re working on some big improvements in these areas as well. New (standard) music libraries will be able to take advantage of these features when they’re available. Stay tuned!”
AHA! I didn’t see that before. Can anyone else on Synology Plex confirm that they are also experiencing this?
