Unable to install plex update (Synology NAS DS218j)

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-08-21_20-40-03.zip (1.9 MB)

I am running a Synology NAS DS218j with DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 2, which is the latest update according to my system control panel.

Following is an overview of my problem. Navigating to the Plex Media Server (PMS) app from my NAS’s web interface leads me to the web interface for PMS. When I get to this it has a banner at the top of the page saying that PMS update is available for my server, and that it is for version 1.16.4.1469. It provides a link to the spk, which I downloaded and attempted to manual install onto my server. However this results in an error:

This package is not supported on the platform of DiskStation or is incompatible with the current DSM version.

In response I navigated to the PMS Downloads Page and chose the package for Synology with ARMv8 for the x18 Series. While the spk file has a different name to the other one, it still doesn’t work and the same error as before is thrown.

I’ve redownloaded my DSM version and attempted to update it, but it rejected it as it was no more recent that my own version.

I have tried to read a fair amount and have snooped around the internet attempting to resolve this on my own to no avail (I looked at [1] [2] [3][4] and many other tangentially related threads). I’ve spent pretty much my whole night just trying to install this Plex update and really haven’t made any headway.

I also looked at the FAQ and found nothing relevant aside from helping me get the log files which are attached. (As an aside, it says that it’s under “Settings > Server > Troubleshooting” but Troubleshooting is listed as “help” for me, so if it’s simple to pass that to whoever could update that it’d reduce some confusion which will inevitably arise as it did for me.)

I hope that was enough detail. Does anybody have any tips on how to help resolve this? I just want to be able to update Plex. I guess it’s not critical but I would like to be able to.

Thanks!

You’re a legend! I didn’t see the “x18” in that name when I looked at it.

I wasn’t sure how to interpret the “what’s my cpu” page too. How did you know a “Marvell Armada 385 88F6820” is ARMv7? All my results from searching the name on google were fruitless.

EDIT:
I found it on some of the documentation pages by Marvell with help from ctrl+f. I guess that’s how you find out!

EDIT AGAIN:
Just to verify this is expected: I installed the package and now it shows this:

Is this expected? Maybe just a glitch?

Thanks again.

I hate to drag this out any longer but I suppose I should mention that it was already set to public.

In this case should I just not worry about it?
