Cannot Remotely Stream via TailScale

Hello: I am sorry to create yet another post regarding remote access via tailscale, however I am desperate enough to do it. I’ve been in IT for many years and thought I would be able to do this, however I have been beaten. I’ve read many articles on how to do this and tried many things without success. My friend has a PMS on a Windows11 PC. I am also on a Windows11 PC. He cannot port forward due to CGNAT. We both have tailscale installed, signed in and connected. He has invited me and I accepted. He has “shared” his PC in tailscale. He has entered the following PMS network settings: “secure connections” to “preferred”; “enable relay” to “off”; put his tailscale URL into “Custom Server Access URLs”; tailscale 100.64.0.0/10 subnet into “IP addresses allowed without auth” From what I had read, that should be it. When I put his tailscale address into a browser, plex opens but only shows my local media server. Nothing from him. I know I must be doing or missing something, however at this point I all out of ideas. We do not need to subnet route, funnel or exit node if we both have tailscale, correct? Much Thanks for any help with this.

Are you a user on his Tailnet? That is, do you log into his Tailnet as a user?

Just because you have a Tailscale account and someone else does, doesn’t mean that you can automatically access their network.

It doesn’t look like your friend has granted you access to their server.
At the moment I can only see your own server connected to your user account.
Your friend needs to invite you to their server. You need to accept this invitation.

This is required in any case, regardless of the type of network connectivity. (Unless of course you are sharing the same plex user account with them, which is not recommended.)

Be advised: You don’t have a Remote Watch Pass, nor a full Plex Pass on your account.
If this remains the case, then you will only be able to stream video from a remote Plex server if its owner has a full Plex Pass of their own.

Much obliged for the reply. I thought we had done the sharing invitation and I had accepted, but will try it again. My friend has a full plex pass. Thanks again.

Thank you for the reply. I am a user on his tailnet. I login to my tailnet and see his machine listed as “shared in” and “connected” Do I need to login to his tailnet somehow? Thanks again.

Thanks to all who replied. The issue was solved. The problem was that the earlier invitation was sent to the wrong account (not the one I use for Plex) All else was set up correctly and is now working.
