When I try to share libraries with a friend I get the error “Failed to update server shares.”, I am only sharing with 7 other friends.

Are you trying the edit the number of libraries you are already sharing with an existing friend or share with new friend?
I added the friend, which worked and they got the invite. Then I went to share the libraries and that is where I get this error. It seems to work fine if I edit libraries for an existing friend. Just not new friends. FYI I am running plex on windows, the libraries are not local, they are mapped drives to another system.
So you didn’t select the libraries when adding them as friend initially?
I did, but then when I looked it showed zero as being shared, however I received no error adding the friend. So I tried to add the libraries again and it gives that error.
I went to manage library access, grant library access. Added the friend, and selected all the libraries to share. Seemed to work, no errors, friend was added and they got the invite. But then they complained I hadn’t shared any libraries so I went back and looked at their access and it …
what tha heck, I just looked again and now it shows they have access to the libraries. I swear for 2 days its shown no libraries shared, now it shows shared.
Sounds like you went thought an second invite flow. I stead of just going to Manage Library Access and enabling the libraries to share for that friend. But I might be misunderstanding
I don’t know what could have been happening, I had even restarted the plex server too. Now all of a sudden it decides to work haha
