I have been running a plex server for years. recently I have begun to have a problem regularly streaming on my lan. My Roku will only rarely play, sometimes it says direct, sometimes indirect. My computers will play sometimes. People outside my network have no problems.
My phone will stream on the wifi at my house without an issue but that is the only device.
I have made sure upnp was turned off on my router.
I have a Netgear Nighthawk, i can’t see any DNS Rebinding options.
Are all your devices including your Plex Server on the same subnet?
There was another person with a Netgear Nighthawk and similar problems recently.
He verified all of the settings, and they looked good. We couldn’t find a setting for DNS Rebinding on his device. He swore all of the “security” and “parental management” things were disabled.
Eventually he got frustrated, and out of rage, factory reset the Netgear.
It started working again.
After doing the obvious troubleshooting, it might be worth trying. The Roku going between Direct and Indirect is very odd.
