I have a Synology DS218play running DSM 7.2.1-69057 update 5, with Plex Media Server 1.30.1.6562-7000 installed.
Done updates (manual) of Plex before without issues, but now it doesn’t work with update to version 1.40.2.8395.
I tried both…
Help?
The DS218play has a Realtek RTD1296 CPU.
Use the ARMv8 version.
…that simple!! 
Now it works.
I checked the hardware spec’s but didn’t get that.

Some additional info…
PMS 1.40 introduced significant database changes.
After updating to PMS 1.40+, you cannot directly roll back to a version less than 1.31.2.
Also, the database changes may take time - minutes to hours.
If you see the “503 maintenance” message, do not panic. Wait for Plex to finish the database migration. Check back every 30 minutes or so. The message will not auto-update. You’ll need to refresh the browser window or close/open a new window.
