Just purchased a new Amazon Fire TV and when setting up Plex, I can’t get to a remote Plex Server that I use on my laptop and other Smart TV’s.
It seems that the new Fire TV Plex App on the new TV does not have the ‘more’ menu selection at the bottom of the left column menu selections. This is where I access my remote server on my Windows PC and on another Smart TV Plex.
Is there a way to update my new Fire TV Plex App to add in the ‘more’ menu item to access remote servers??
Just loaded up my Toshiba brand Fire-TV. I have the . . . More option at the bottom of my left-hand side list. It’s just above the Gear icon next to Settings which is at the very bottom.
I checked the Amazon app store for the app, and it displays that it was recently updated Oct. 25th.
On the main interface of the TV, press the triple line button on the remote and select More Info. That should take you to the Amazon app store entry for the app. Scroll down a few times to get past the reviews, it should list what’s “new” in version number 8.24.1.29493. I assume that if the app on my TV has been updated, that it must be the version displayed here.
Edit: Just went to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Plex on my FireTV interface. It displays that the Plex app installed is actually 8.25.0.28665, which is… more up to date than the store version?
I uninstalled and reinstalled and still have the same version. Maybe this is specific to FireTV’s sold as the Insignia Best Buy brand Smart TV’s…???. I will keep looking for an update to become available.
