Since installing the latest update Plex will not load. It begins loading, then goes back to the Plex logo to start the app. I am a Plex Pro lifetime member. I did not pay for a lifetime subscription to NOT be able to access the app or the shared server I am a part of.
What version of the Plex app is installed on the TV?
It should be listed in the Apps section of the FireTV settings. On my FireTV stick it is: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications. The version is also available in the Plex app settings, but seems you never get that far…
Some things to try:
Power Cycle the TV
- Turn off the TV, unplug the power cord for ~30 seconds, restore power.
- Like shutting down your PC instead of just restarting it.
- If reaching the power cord is difficult, then skip to next items.
Clear Plex app cache
- Go into the FireTV app management section of the settings.
- Stop the Plex app, then clear the cache (you can clear data as well, but will have to re-login to the app, re-pin libraries, etc).
- Launch the app.
Delete & re-install
- Delete & re-install the app. Sometimes things go bad during an update. Rare, but it happens.
It is version 8.31.2.31546
I have done all that you have suggested (I am a computer technician) only to get the same results each time. It starts to load, then reverts back to start again.
Dang. That usually fixes things.
8.31.2 was released in late March, so it has been on the Amazon app store for almost a month. I’ve some remote users with FireSticks and they haven’t reported any problems (I’m not doubting your problems, just haven’t heard of similar with 8.31.2).
You could try rolling back to a prior version, but I do not know if that will help.
You might try 8.30.2. Many Nvidia Shield users rolled back to it due to some Shield specific issues. It appears to be a solid release.

FYI: You’ll notice in the announcement thread the current release is 9.0.6. Amazon app approval time is sometimes quite long. That is why the Amazon store version lags the Google store version by several releases.
