Can't add add'l episodes to extsting TV library

I have an existing TV library with one show/4 seasons. Season 1 won’t load correctly even though I think I have it title formatted correctly…after all the other 3 seasons loaded fine. The problem is that episodes 1 and 2 are one 2 part episode. It doesn’t load at all. Then episode 3 loads as episode 1, all following episodes are incorrectly numbered, and the last 2 episodes aren’t even titled. Can someone look at my file list and show me what I have done incorrectly?hammer1

it looks like the show is organized differently on your source than what TheTVDb.com expects…
There, More Than Murder is a special, while season 1 has only 10 episodes, starting with 24 Karat Dead.

How to Fix it…

  • Adjust your filenames to match the organization from TheTVDb.com
    • Move the episodes of More Than Murder into a Specials/Season 00 folder and rename them accordingly. As TheTVDb.com considers this a single episode special, you’ll need to either merge the two files (e.g .using MKVToolNix) or combine them for Plex by adding -pt1/-pt2 to the file names (replacing the (1)/(2) suffix!)

      .. .. .. > Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer - s00e02 - More Than Murder-pt1.ext

    • Renumber the remaining episodes of season 1 to match season 1 @ TheTVDb.com

additional remark…

you might want to include the year the show was released in your folder / episode names… otherwise Plex might confuse it with the 1958 version of that show.

Example:

Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (1983) > Season 01 > Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (1983) - s01e01 - 24 Karat Dead.ext

Thanks so much for the explanation, tom80H. There was a pilot movie that I handled as below with “S00E01” and PLEX handled it as a Special. There was also a special episode in season 3 that I handled as “S03E00” and it worked fine. I don’t understand exactly why PLEX didn’t handle this season 1 situation, but now, thanks to your instructions, I know how to fix it. hammer1 hammer1a hammer3 hammer3a

Plex will always scan properly formatted files – however in case of the season 3 special you can see it doesn’t get matching metadata from its online source.
“The Return of Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer” is listed on TheTVDb.com as s00e03 – however there’s not much to find (except for the title and air date).
