Can't browse to root folder in "Add Folder"

I am having the exact same issue. Except, when I am in the jail and I do the shell to navigate to the media folder, I am able to see the files there :expressionless:

Thank you for the suggestions @ahughes03, but after resetting permissions recursively, I still cannot access or manually add my desired folder.

I am unsure of how to map the folder into usr/local/…, any suggestions for that?

Thank you very much

I figured it out and mapped the directory I need. At least for now. Thanks for the assistance @ahughes03

How about telling the rest of us how you did it

Hello everyone,

I recently built my first FREENAS box running 11.0U4

MSI B150
i3-6100
16GB KINGSTONE DDR ECC
6X4TB RAIDZ2

I’ve setup using the plugin and the generic jail, updated plex packages on both setups, but still have a problem even accessing my media.

Plex cannot see my root directory, nor can I type in /media to point plex in the right direction.

My steps.

Created zpool RaidZ2 titled ‘MediaFiles’
Change permissions to allow read, write, execute for owner, group, other
Created a dataset in MediaFiles titled ‘Movies’
Change permissions to allow read, write, execute for owner, group, other
Created a Jail titled PlexPass
Created a storage, source: mnt/Mediafiles/movies , destination: /media/movies
Shell, followed ahughes03’s guide to generic jail pkg install
Setup Plex, signed in, attempted to add library

At Add Folder , I see only the following

Top Box
/usr/local/plexdata-plexpass/Plex Media Server

Left side pane

I have the exact same issue…

Yes, how about you share with the rest?!

The Fix Go to Jail make a new Storage link it from /mnt/MediaFiles/movies Or where you have your movies to /usr/local/plexdata-plexpass/Plex Media Server/(The Folder name the Movie gonna be in) Fx /movie mine is /usr/local/plexdata-plexpass/Plex Media Server/Plex Media Server. It wil make the folder if its not there.

I am having this exact same issue as well. Super annoying. I have been a plex / FreeNAS user for years, and this didn’t used to be an issue.

I had to rebuild my NAS Recently and ran into this exact issue, however I am NOT Running FreeNAS.
I am running vanilla FreeBSD 11 and I don’t have any root directory listings.
What more bizarre is that typing the address doesn’t appear to be working either.

FreeNAS 11 user here. Trying to get Plex to work… not seeing a way to browse to the share which is on the same mounted drives as the Jail Plex is installed to…

Manually typing the path to the share allows a library to be created but No items are detected by Plex.

Do I need to create a user on the FreeNAS for Plex to use to access the files?

If so what are the name and parameters I need to use?

HA HA! got it working! I had to manually update Plex.

I used this guide for that:
https://www.ceos3c.com/freenas/manually-update-plex-freenas/

Then I had to manually type my path in the add library part of Plex. In my case that was /media/Video/Movies

I’m having the same issue FITorion is having. No matter what I’ve tried Plex is Unable to see my actual media in the dataset. I’m running 11.1 U5.

We found the problem and you should expect a fix in an upcoming PMS release.
