Can't cast from web app to Roku Plex channel

Server Version#: 1.32.0.6865
Player Version#: 4.104.2

This used to work but now doesn’t. When I select the Roku off the casting device list nothing happens, the icon doesn’t change colour to orange and the music plays on the web app. If I start the music first then click the Roku on the list I get the message “would you like to continue playback here” but when I select Yes it continues to play on the web app. I get the same if I try to cast to another web app running on a different machine.

The same process works fine off the Android app where I get a much greater list of devices to cast to, including the smart speakers which are not included in the list on the web app.

What has changed and what do I need to do to fix it? Thanks.

I’ve found the same problem casting from Plex Web to my nVidia Shield.

I start a track playing on Plex Web, then select ‘SHIELD Android TV’ from the ‘Select Player’ menu.

This results in the music pausing, and the following dialog appears:

Answering “No” stops the music playing altogether.
Answering “Yes” causes the music to continue playing on Plex Web.

The same behavior occurs when the device is a Roku. Nothing ever happens on the device I selected for casting.

Have Plex folk noticed this thread?

My experience is exactly the same as yours. It used to work so something has introduced this error.

I have heard nothing back from the Plex guys either.

I see this is still not fixed. I tried it again today.

Currently installed version of PMS: 1.32.2.7002

Confirmed known bug, no further info unfortunately, rolling back to a server version 1.30 fixes it

Thanks for the update, at least I know what is happening.

Interesting that a later thread got an answer from Plex but mine didn’t.

Myself and a few others tagged mods and employees into the thread @BigWheel was the one who took notice, did take a while too.

sorry we missed this one.
