I had to re-install my Mageia #7.1 system due to a major failure and restore my PMS from a tar backup (thanks ChuckPA - it worked like a charm) yesterday (Thursday OZ time).
BUT, as soon as I had restored the PMS I wanted to check it, both with my mobile Plex app and being able to play my media. Well on my Samsung Galaxy S9, I started the Plex app which eventually was able to connect to the newly restored PMS - so far so good. Then I selected some media from the Plex app to play, selected the “Connect to a Device” cast button and it shows various things to cast to. I was able to connect to our Samsung TV (circa 2017) and the media started playing but the cast connection was disconnected after about 10 seconds BUT the show kept playing! (This used to happen every so often previously but I never reported it but I’d like to know why; and HOW to stop the media playing).
Today I thought I’d try again. I tried to connect to our Samsung TV - got the msg “unable to connect to Loungeroom” (or whatever device I am trying to connect to) and then our old BAUHN (Aldi brand) TVs, both failed to connect. I can see the cast logo trying to connect but then it fails.
So now I am at a loss, I can’t play any media at all from my Plex app.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Thinking about this after I had raised this as an issue, I later thought that I might know what is causing this! I was running a VPN on my mobile. I don’t usually have it running but turned it on the other day. Anyway just then (today - Saturday OZ time) I tested the theory: I shut down the VPN on my mobile and re-tried to watch some media on our Loungeroom TV. Hey Presto it worked!
