I just signed up for Plex Pass and installed the server on an Arch Linux machine. Everything streams fine, but I can’t cast to anything using the Plex app on my iPhone 8. I have a Chromecast and a Samsung Smart TV that both can’t receive anything from Plex - every time, it says “Loading” on the Chromecast/TV for a long time and then “Sorry Something Went Wrong”. I know it’s not my network because I can use the Youtube app to cast to both the Chromecast and TV with no problem. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling both the server and the client several times. Nothing has worked.
EDIT i just tried downloading the VLC app on the iPhone, and this can connect to my Arch server and cast to both devices perfectly right away… so it’s definitely a Plex problem…
Help please… I saw a long thread nearly identical to my problem from 2018 where the support people just stopped responding…
