Can't Claim Plex Server

Server Version#: 1.41.5.9522-a96edc606-ls259
Player Version#: Plex Web Version 4.145.1

I am having issues claiming my plex server, I cannot register a server to my account.
I have been running Plex on self hosted K3s cluster, all nodes running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS for several months without issue, and a few days ago I noticed that the Plex Agents no longer seemed to be able to find any matches for any new content - I tried updating the agents in the settings to no avail, and the server started acting up in general - failing to connect from various platforms, timing out, etc.
After a while I decided to delete the LibraryConfig to recreate the server from scratch - I stood it back up using the same processes, and the server gets up and running but I am unable to claim it, the “Claim Server” button loads for a while and ultimately has no effect.
I have tried setting a claim token, the server logs say it is claimed, but the web UI does not.
I have tried logging out and logging back in, no luck.
I tried logging out, then clicking “Claim Server” while signed out, it redirects me to sign in, it appears that I log in successfully, then I get a notification that says “There was a problem signing into Plex” and the server remains unclaimed.
Whenever I am logged out and try to access the setup UI(server_ip:32400/web) it initiates the setup wizard and prompts me to log in, then after a bit shows the errors: - There was a problem claiming this server,

  • There was a problem logging into plex(even though it logs me in successfully)

Initially I thought there was some problem with my account itself, but then I encountered the same issue when creating a new account, so it seems like an issue with the plex claim process itself - while logged in, the network analyzer shows 401 responses from plex services.

I am running the linuxserver/plex docker image on k3s, I also tried changing the name of the server to ensure uniqueness.

Most every problem i’ve encountered with plex has been self-inflicted, but I’m really stumped on this one and I think it might be out of my hands.
The status page shows green across the board https://status.plex.tv/

EDIT:
Interestingly, I am able to stand up a server using docker-compose, so it must be a networking issue in my cluster

We would need the server logs to help troubleshoot what is going on.

I am also having an issue. Plex was working fine and then all of the sudden my admin account got disconnected and server went to unclaimed status. Tried reclaiming but the button just spins and then nothing. There is also a message that there is an update even though it is on the latest version. Now I can’t access anything. Tried all solutions I could find but to no avail. Finally as a last ditch, removed Plex and reinstalled fresh. Set libraries back up and got to settings. Clicked the claim button and same thing. Spins and nothing and says there is an update even though it was just installed with the latest version. I’m at a loss at this point. Seems like a plex issue.

Any possible solutions would be appreciated

I just sent you my server logs

@oasisadmi I am not seeing anything obvious in your logs (except they appear to have been cleared shorly before this issue)
Have you tried GitHub - ChuckPa/UserCredentialReset: User Credential Reset utility for Plex ?

I reinstalled Plex and am getting the same issue. Seeing a 408 error when trying to claim.

a 408 error is a network timeout, check your DNS settings, and firewall settings.

Also , don’t forget gateway IP setting (usually the modem/router IP)

I find it strange cause it’s been working just fine, not having network issues with anything else, the server can access the internet fine and nothing has changed since it’s been working fine.

Since you’re dealing with containers,

From outside the container, with container stopped,
and using the script’s -p option (see README for details)

Claim it that way.

The script can handle null tokens/values in Preferences.xml which PMS can’t always do

I’m not using containers. I actually tried that utility and got this:

Plex Media Server user credential reset and reclaim tool (Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS)

This utility will reset the server’s credentials.
It will next reclaim the server for you using a Plex Claim token you provide from https://plex.tv/claim

Please enter Plex Claim Token copied from http://plex.tv/claim : claim-tbxMk5wwy5UsZgnkJy2G
Stopping PMS
Clearing Preferences.xml
Getting new credentials from Plex.tv
ERROR: Could not get credentials from plex.tv (Error: 28)

OK, so got it working and not sure why this was the issue. I have had region blocking on my network for a long time blocking traffic from outside the US. It has never been an issue using Plex. I turned that off and suddenly it seems all is well.

Personally would like to be able to turn it on but looks like I don’t get to have that and Plex.

Error 28 is “No space left on device”. An odd error

The Plex.tv claiming server for most of the US is in Ireland.
(Been there for a long time)

If you look in your logs, search for MyPlex

Now, as you look at the log, scrolling up a bit, you’ll see the IP addresses of the servers you’re talking to.

Check their geolocation and add exception(s) as needed.
